Its WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced
I've been working on my red and white double nine patch Irish Chain Quilt Top. After not working on this quilt for months, I made quite a bit of progress on it over the weekend and before and after work. I started out with 7 blocks and ended up with 31. I'll need 72, so I have many blocks left to make!
When I first started laying out the blocks, I played with the idea of using this pattern, which would alternate the blocks with plain white blocks. It makes an interesting pattern and would take half as many of the double nine patch blocks. But, after seeing the above pattern, I decided to stick with it and make enough blocks to cover the entire bed.
I haven't worked on any of my other projects, but here is a list of my quilts in progress:
1. Red and White Double Nine Patch: Piecing the top
2. Bluberri Breezes: Ready to baste and machine quilt
3. The Grandma Quilt: In the hand quilting frame to be finished
4. Jacob's Ladder Quilt Along: Picked out some fabrics and ready to make a trial block.
5. Crumb Quilt: Haven't decided if this will become a project. Just playing around with the idea. No commitment!

Oh my... you're making tons o' progress! Such beautiful quilts...
Good progress! I still love the bluberi breeze quilt. A lot!
very attractive quilt.
From 7 blocks to 31... that's great progress. Your red and white quilt is going to be beautiful once it's finished.
I'm very interested in that Jacob's Ladder QAL. I have a quilt top made by my Granny probably 50 years ago that is a Jacob's Ladder. I want to finish it, and it would be fun to make a companion one to go with it.
I love your double nine patch. It's amazing the different looks you can get by arranging the blocks different ways. Irish chains are a favorite too!
I've been toying with making an irish chain in monochrome red prints for a while now, and yours has totally convinced me! It looks great, can't wait to see it finished.
I love the blue and tan quilt, and I think I love the red and white even more!!! These will look so good in your country cottage. :o)
Both of these are wonderful 9-patch projects. Can't wait to see your Blueberry Breezes finish. :)
Both quilts are beautiful! Congrats on making progress! I've always wanted to do a Jacob's Ladder quilt. That's my son's name. I checked out the Crumb quilt blocks. I love the look! I need to investigate that more.
