WIP Wednesday, Riley Blake Stars

Today is WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced.

I haven't been doing a whole lot of sewing lately.  Its just one of those periods of time that we all go through from time to time, I guess.  I want to sew, but there's some kind of mental block that keeps me from making any progress.  Too much going on!

But here is what I'm working on, even if its a very slow process:

A new baby quilt, still using the Riley Blake left overs from "Eli's Coming" and "Pinwheels and Prairie Points".

This is the pattern I am using, except the background will be white instead of the black.

This is a pile of 1 1/2 inch strips to be used for one of the borders.

Here's one boo boo I had to fix. Yikes, I really wasn't paying attention. I lined up the seams and everything.

Happy Wednesday to you!

Here are Eli's burp cloths. He will be ready for all kinds of spit up! We are going to his baby shower today. It won't be long before he will be using his quilts and burp cloths.

Some Sewing Table Organization Ideas and a Sneak Peek

I got the idea for using this wire picnic cutlery carrier for sewing table organization from  Freda.  These wire baskets are perfect for holding scissors, rotary cutters, markers, pens, rulers, calculators and more.  I am enjoying having a place to put these things.  It doesn't turn over and I can lay my hands on my scissors quickly for once!

I also bought two of these for holding small gardening tools in our outdoor storage building.  Another perfect use for them.  Now is the time of year to buy these summer items.  I bought mine at Dollar General and they were on sale.

Its also a good time to find other pretty and unusual storage containers in the back to school sales of dorm supplies.  I found this gray and pink fabric bin, also at Dollar General.  It works well on my sewing table to hold fabrics that I am currently working with, instructions, magnetic pin holders and thread.

Here's a sneak peek of another baby quilt I started last night using the leftovers from "Eli's Coming"

Hmmm, seems just yesterday I posted 3 projects that needed finishing.... how'd a new project happen?

Pam Kitty Table Runner

Today I am linking to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced.

The project I am working on at the moment is a simple table runner using Pam Kitty fabric.  A half yard of the front fabric and a half yard of the backing fabric make a nice size table runner.

It was easy to put together a quilt sandwich using the whole cloth pieces and then free motion quilt it.

I worked on the binding last night while watching the Waltons!

I love this "vintage feel" fabric.

Other projects waiting in the wings:

1.  I need to free motion quilt the Jewel Box/Buck Eye Beauty quilt!  Its been pin basted and ready to quilt for months.

2.  I need to sew the Road Trip Quilt Along blocks from last summer into a quilt top.

3.  I'm still working on the Cheddar Bow Ties Quilt as a Leaders and Enders projects.

Have a great Wednesday!

Christmas Sewing on the Fourth of July!

I made my first handmade gift of the 2013 Christmas season yesterday.

A quilted tote bag for my chocolate loving coworker/friend.

Hand over the chocolate and nobody gets hurt!

I will be filling it with items that she likes as I find them on sale and with coupons. Of course there will be chocolate in there!

I will make two more for the other two girls at my office.  One loves doughnuts, so I have some doughnut fabric for her bag.  The other is an NC State fan.... so I won't have to look far to find that fabric in my stash!
