I know we have all put a lot of love and work into a quilt to be gifted and never really got a "'thank you", and often wondered if the quilt was ever used. In fact I have given quilts that I'm pretty sure are still folded up on a shelf in a closet. AND THAT'S OK! Many people don't realize how much goes into making a quilt. And a gift should be given with no strings attached and that's what I do.</span><div><span style="font-size: medium;"><br /></span></div><div><b><i><span style="font-size: medium;"> But......... I just haven't been able to get in the mood to work on them.</p><p>But, I finally finished two simple baby quilts for two sisters who were having babies. One was for a boy born in March and the other is for a girl who is due in September.</p><p>Both quilts consist of a top that is one piece of fabric. Both are Winnie the Pooh themed!</p><p>Here is the boy quilt made for Max:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHP7r9HwT9bIrpUepLVRi0ndPaEh4MVbMmxJKFr7V1Ae6CuT-nJM5sYDziL6XDDuEOwYIgIEJfXJjk-Z1frMJ7mPHQl9LrOB5emgxUTR1tpFB2XJrtPIdCAy2L8WVRqygfsbo-9rGWYPA8W2pBVR8yff8xZ70tfwlSGPyeuhnnD3Oc_xNl4w7AtIqYtw/s1773/_DSC0298%20(15).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; The one shown with the pattern is made with Fall colored flannel fabrics. Since the last several quilts that I've made were using the same pattern, it seemed like a quick project that I would enjoy making. Mine's not nearly as pretty, but I used the Fall flannel scraps that I had on hand.<br /></p><p> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSsFqhsUNR3NQw0L3NQQZNkM49nqFFkyWMKdiLJwaCc4tF-s84GJKgkctz7KfRJwqA0-gsdw-Hxp6OwjjUyUuzkpNnw9zYUW60fooRovjMBQEt7zV6O5CVCkI1PnU1mXHNe4epDNgykWiA/s2560/20211023_142649%257E2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2560" data-original-width="1440" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSsFqhsUNR3NQw0L3NQQZNkM49nqFFkyWMKdiLJwaCc4tF-s84GJKgkctz7KfRJwqA0-gsdw-Hxp6OwjjUyUuzkpNnw9zYUW60fooRovjMBQEt7zV6O5CVCkI1PnU1mXHNe4epDNgykWiA/w360-h640/20211023_142649%257E2.jpg" width="360" /></a></p><p>See that cute little owl head?</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBoSkVWSfsn4qGx7Q543h_95rUSrmlAImIXirpdpws2O7hLVD8WXtnCensKc6md7PyrC3C0q1cFT8NeQrOgwR7AWJom9jyoteFQxdLuRZrTDO7agldGLIQ_ASRs7M4no6WfSgW6YlTMTFR/s2560/20211023_143004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2560" data-original-width="1440" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBoSkVWSfsn4qGx7Q543h_95rUSrmlAImIXirpdpws2O7hLVD8WXtnCensKc6md7PyrC3C0q1cFT8NeQrOgwR7AWJom9jyoteFQxdLuRZrTDO7agldGLIQ_ASRs7M4no6WfSgW6YlTMTFR/w360-h640/20211023_143004.jpg" width="360" /></a></div><br /><a href="http://quiltingdigest.com/use-flannel-leftovers-in-a-striking-pillow/" target="_blank">Here is a link to the pattern</a>., found on Quilting Digest.Com. I have been able to continue making quilts using this same pattern, using only what I have on hand. I have only purchased quilt battings in the year 2021. This means that I have purchased no new fabric to supplement what I have on hand, nor any backing fabrics. </p><p>This quilt is being made for a family whose home has a cabin feel and I was thinking these fabrics would be cute in their family room. My vision is that it would be a great throw size quilt and could lay folded on the back of the couch when not in use. </p><p>As I was making the quilt, I realized that there are lots of Christmas items and words in the quilt. So I decided to type up a list of all of them, put the list into a sheet protector and include it with the quilt when I give it to the family. It might be a quiet activity during the time leading up to Christmas to find these objects in an "I Spy" kind of game. There are 3 children, ages 5, 7 and 8, who will be using the quilt. At the end of this post I included the list of items and words.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq2CPxQP1zpeCrYb2Jizne3bYLpU-25JWhClYvfO9AnfhYs5_T1Llwsn3f0GeOR6X1C5zNwgVOT0iA9YujTCwIRuixaUxCyEcKIW_0IiaymTWBDiN0HAWV_WGyac_92c0ixJApgCnie_TS/s1732/_DSC0576+%25285%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq2CPxQP1zpeCrYb2Jizne3bYLpU-25JWhClYvfO9AnfhYs5_T1Llwsn3f0GeOR6X1C5zNwgVOT0iA9YujTCwIRuixaUxCyEcKIW_0IiaymTWBDiN0HAWV_WGyac_92c0ixJApgCnie_TS/w640-h426/_DSC0576+%25285%2529.JPG" width="640" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Close ups of some of the fabrics: <br /></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt8ZissIn5lCuCAKViAj_uxnof0DyXLd2nmnEx8gH8AwHlbEI3RQTghhY9Chgk6-bRhUwkjZkzeiZlc_uTPGw3IKcka9rcfhNPnjdirfeAw11w3OwKQ3tJbe85H0ETXnnKvERwt51pfeSh/s1684/_DSC0596+%25285%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1187" data-original-width="1684" height="452" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgt8ZissIn5lCuCAKViAj_uxnof0DyXLd2nmnEx8gH8AwHlbEI3RQTghhY9Chgk6-bRhUwkjZkzeiZlc_uTPGw3IKcka9rcfhNPnjdirfeAw11w3OwKQ3tJbe85H0ETXnnKvERwt51pfeSh/w640-h452/_DSC0596+%25285%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4RUNWzdbUj3UTIeHIHsSGjXcznax_WjgyymhWe0FECZRUa3v4RoBB11wx_CrSZZRZfvjayISDOcwMmnh_TcXlxPMKEvdOfStwCULjsd4Ano2RW7aBTl8epxqnQ1WNXQSk2ASdv7pmNYSx/s1732/_DSC0604+%25286%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4RUNWzdbUj3UTIeHIHsSGjXcznax_WjgyymhWe0FECZRUa3v4RoBB11wx_CrSZZRZfvjayISDOcwMmnh_TcXlxPMKEvdOfStwCULjsd4Ano2RW7aBTl8epxqnQ1WNXQSk2ASdv7pmNYSx/w640-h426/_DSC0604+%25286%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkZQuO6uA8-SsgEAUIkZEa1lKQr30n16a8xQBHt0EEJIlP01JyTo9GP-F4TXcj8QVEC7NDMWI6tgfVF9cfqrXTcMcCSd6QZk8k2-2ko2tFnYlbtiyXMj19D0oB1muktm-LVOJeEilSRgsI/s1732/_DSC0607+%25285%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1732" data-original-width="1154" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkZQuO6uA8-SsgEAUIkZEa1lKQr30n16a8xQBHt0EEJIlP01JyTo9GP-F4TXcj8QVEC7NDMWI6tgfVF9cfqrXTcMcCSd6QZk8k2-2ko2tFnYlbtiyXMj19D0oB1muktm-LVOJeEilSRgsI/w426-h640/_DSC0607+%25285%2529.JPG" width="426" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHn-sXYsCjaLthlnMiyGM-CIzZJHoK4q_GHaUhpe1FoDXpBgZzqABb_4KXgtC_owtTGxfGn6PYQmF7zYfrBJBGJJ8l3DxxhLB-hkML_F8bW6-8ORal2HksO_oFnQrCfThuya03HpLYKzoy/s1732/_DSC0609+%25285%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHn-sXYsCjaLthlnMiyGM-CIzZJHoK4q_GHaUhpe1FoDXpBgZzqABb_4KXgtC_owtTGxfGn6PYQmF7zYfrBJBGJJ8l3DxxhLB-hkML_F8bW6-8ORal2HksO_oFnQrCfThuya03HpLYKzoy/w640-h426/_DSC0609+%25285%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><p>I incorporated this panel into the backing fabric. My inspiration was the monthly color of the month blocks that are hosted by the <a href="https://superscrappy.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">SOSCRAPPY BLOG HERE</a>. I wanted 5 colors and so I made 4 pink blocks in January, 4 yellow blocks in February, 4 green blocks in March, 4 blue blocks in April and 4 purple blocks in June. I didn't do any in May. </p><p>I've still been following my plan of not buying any fabric in 2021. This quilt is completely made from fabric I already had on hand. Many scraps were used, but hardly a dent can be noticed! I love to keep lots of 2 1/2 inch strips on hand, sorted by color, which makes these blocks so easy to make. If I didn't have enough of the color I needed, I then moved to larger pieces of scraps and fat quarters. I love doing this!</p><p>I used my trusty clothesline for this picture. I hardly ever hang out actual clothes, but I don't ever want it taken down.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjljal14ezdvTpc5NflOVCxz4mvtuDZXdRHoraQ2vhUljochkJMIgTKpv_CTL58JYK3yd6tPPaktusXPny2KfYNN-C1th0Ebe6yI1typ6QVsETdCIp7vArlK934N26Ulc4vc7ldKg1Rhef6/s1584/_DSC0521+%25285%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; I sewed the binding on by machine to the back of the quilt, folded it over to the front and used a decorative stitch to finish it. The one I chose has very tiny stitches and are nearly impossible to remove if there is a mistake. My sister gave me most of her fabric. She loves fabric and had bought quite a bit over the years. But, she decided to de-clutter her house and I was the lucky recipient of some beautiful fabrics.</p><p>I decided that since she picked out and bought most of this Christmas fabric, she would most likely like a quilt made from it. Her birthday is near the end of October, so this will be her gift, just in time to display folded on the back of a chair or the end of a bed.</p><p>It is a typical windy March day today, so I had to get creative with the pictures of my quilt inside. I pulled out a couple of Christmas items to add to the quilt pictures.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjujJTXG-xvjfGTVk_p2kD6yY1r5eTARcybf6wZlxaUzPbgchc29j2WfWDyz_3reMCA810aRDc2mpiAVqqa8Nf_Q5NN6gA2n5aehyphenhyphenua3VjmMp4JW-bvZhSLsb8ls9VexZplgaABFbJy4ayK/s1665/_DSC0305+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1665" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjujJTXG-xvjfGTVk_p2kD6yY1r5eTARcybf6wZlxaUzPbgchc29j2WfWDyz_3reMCA810aRDc2mpiAVqqa8Nf_Q5NN6gA2n5aehyphenhyphenua3VjmMp4JW-bvZhSLsb8ls9VexZplgaABFbJy4ayK/w462-h640/_DSC0305+%25282%2529.JPG" width="462" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoMoIHdEc2GJQTEVnzVBbIeTY9-Wmhyphenhyphen1HAx1XApZHNpZqqg71CogpPl9ARDcYPPPOyQiNufeVitNP999wMb4quXQPuNRUcft4u1M5rsx4fHZzEbj8S-Uz_Q7Ngei83jr8x0Tje4g1fOYRd/s1706/_DSC0316+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1172" data-original-width="1706" height="440" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoMoIHdEc2GJQTEVnzVBbIeTY9-Wmhyphenhyphen1HAx1XApZHNpZqqg71CogpPl9ARDcYPPPOyQiNufeVitNP999wMb4quXQPuNRUcft4u1M5rsx4fHZzEbj8S-Uz_Q7Ngei83jr8x0Tje4g1fOYRd/w640-h440/_DSC0316+%25282%2529.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj02o-qA-I4Z70WHQ7rwq89YS0AYzeVsn4O-jsrSn2-iN5pF6FWbZl-TxhN4bY9MLNrKATXvL4XGzIHAlHN6HsaItckH2SbPIe-NV6M5QJiqJZT20fx7mjwubK-2Zs_L2Ipg5Mqr9KGbhlG/s1607/_DSC0335+%25282%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1607" data-original-width="1244" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj02o-qA-I4Z70WHQ7rwq89YS0AYzeVsn4O-jsrSn2-iN5pF6FWbZl-TxhN4bY9MLNrKATXvL4XGzIHAlHN6HsaItckH2SbPIe-NV6M5QJiqJZT20fx7mjwubK-2Zs_L2Ipg5Mqr9KGbhlG/w496-h640/_DSC0335+%25282%2529.JPG" width="496" /></a></div><p></p><p>It doesn't show up too well in a picture, but the backing fabric has white snowflakes on white. Instead of disrupting our household by pinning on the kitchen table, I tried it out on the table in my sewing room. I just had to take a few things off it and slide it over to the center of the room. I was much younger and more able to crawl around on the floor back then though.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHWB-1PkkbRQCBRB54zO0yyHVAHxiFplxSBz86lQ8UGL0Gn_Xmw9Mi1fgsYbnHEoeN06zbCGVrNHhx59-I76LASw_460ZyBpn71Opzn7b0qfxCLPixM_fIZ0hgb7Tq0uL3PqmJEk_7bExI/s1732/_DSC0258+%25281%2529.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHWB-1PkkbRQCBRB54zO0yyHVAHxiFplxSBz86lQ8UGL0Gn_Xmw9Mi1fgsYbnHEoeN06zbCGVrNHhx59-I76LASw_460ZyBpn71Opzn7b0qfxCLPixM_fIZ0hgb7Tq0uL3PqmJEk_7bExI/w400-h266/_DSC0258+%25281%2529.JPG" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">My sister has good taste!!! The reason I am calling it the Papa Jack Quilt Number Two, is because it is the second one I've made him with that name. Also sticking to my goals, I did not buy anything in the making of this quilt. The fabrics were all in my stash. I am going to make my granddaughter, Victoria, a rainbow string quilt. The blocks will not be laid out like this in the quilt, but here are the pink blocks I made this month. I plan to do 4 blocks of 5 different colors. I'm thinking pink, blue, yellow, green, and purple. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEuW64m-Okk9G96KQlyW6Nfe-gILRbPVr1KIQ8pLv09Cd3pVhmcrbuvphqqRTsIu2NQWDj0i6EODsSb0eWZyDHhFcZLCZstxJgxqZRmsF81EEmQvMbdEibY3U6mM5kTEtrprrzz8U6mGki/s1732/_DSC0566.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEuW64m-Okk9G96KQlyW6Nfe-gILRbPVr1KIQ8pLv09Cd3pVhmcrbuvphqqRTsIu2NQWDj0i6EODsSb0eWZyDHhFcZLCZstxJgxqZRmsF81EEmQvMbdEibY3U6mM5kTEtrprrzz8U6mGki/w400-h266/_DSC0566.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>February's color is yellow, so time to go through my 2 1/2 inch strips and pull out some yellows!<br /></p>Debbie Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01610913789958390802noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9039832942236316133.post-88039502396573188902021-01-02T12:20:00.006-05:002021-02-06T18:00:33.348-05:00A Small 2021 Finish and 2021 Quilty Plans<p>Good morning and happy 2nd day of January, 2021!</p><p>Being home all day on a rainy first day of January, 2021, I was able to complete a small project from start to finish! I am calling it a Christmas Tree Rug. The place we normally place our tree is a small corner right by a doorway that we pass through constantly that leads to and from the kitchen and living room. Our artificial tree is not a very big tree and fits that spot perfectly.</p><p>However, a traditional "tree skirt" is too big for the space and I feel like someone might slip and fall on it when walking by. So my solution is a "tree rug". Its a small rectangular shape and I am simply going to sit the tree on top of it. A couple of presents under the tree will hide the part of the tree that sits on it. </p><p>The fabric is a panel called "Northwoods Noel". This has been in my Christmas fabrics tote for a long time. In fact, including this one there are four! Someone gave them to me. The backing fabric is some I already had as well.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNcObQEKoHmBVQbIRi_1AYNLdZ6OQi6NyYO7sZreuD2-LexXe8Wo0GnZtNBBN_IS31n2X4ncFfL7LZRAVOo-nKhouvlgk6gQOXioqsUDl0v_O1tHLYEBesll859sHv2Q6blrg328YWWZqx/s1732/_DSC0512.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1732" data-original-width="1154" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNcObQEKoHmBVQbIRi_1AYNLdZ6OQi6NyYO7sZreuD2-LexXe8Wo0GnZtNBBN_IS31n2X4ncFfL7LZRAVOo-nKhouvlgk6gQOXioqsUDl0v_O1tHLYEBesll859sHv2Q6blrg328YWWZqx/w426-h640/_DSC0512.JPG" width="426" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkzaKNOyxn9uJIHzVOPDb7nmSRIEOZXvslgn578bp77e1zSiwcwCYPEkfBq1HSryR9USxfYCxZ4YvjlDvkdAHBuSsOyMcegoyAAYfmQdDsMFax9OXOrg1-Ot371Vtnqi4e_FATHs6kzJfJ/s1732/_DSC0481.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkzaKNOyxn9uJIHzVOPDb7nmSRIEOZXvslgn578bp77e1zSiwcwCYPEkfBq1HSryR9USxfYCxZ4YvjlDvkdAHBuSsOyMcegoyAAYfmQdDsMFax9OXOrg1-Ot371Vtnqi4e_FATHs6kzJfJ/s320/_DSC0481.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p>I taped down the backing fabric on top of my sewing room table, then added the batting and top, then pin basted the whole thing.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD6lmeq8a-bCyVnzJwKlnruNN_t2c0BeDRP0fGEl4d7R5VuCn1Fp99XIhUR12wHByH3UOrJDCOwMEwGpvX1GSdOYbQopCvz-S2oiVA6Mz9NKjj19Wl1Iob6yjMpgFOXW_KEfhrELaYuRQd/s1732/_DSC0476.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD6lmeq8a-bCyVnzJwKlnruNN_t2c0BeDRP0fGEl4d7R5VuCn1Fp99XIhUR12wHByH3UOrJDCOwMEwGpvX1GSdOYbQopCvz-S2oiVA6Mz9NKjj19Wl1Iob6yjMpgFOXW_KEfhrELaYuRQd/s320/_DSC0476.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>Also, this small quilt can be used for other things if I decide to do that. It can be a wall hanging or a table topper.</p><p>************* <br /></p><p>Quilty Plans for 2021: </p><p>1. I want to use what I have on hand!!!! I hope to only buy what is completely necessary. This means piecing backs of quilts and making lots of scrappy quilts, which is what I love anyway.</p><p>The panel used in the Northwoods Noel Christmas Tree Rug above is my first project of the year using what I have! I even pieced the quilt batting from leftover scraps of batting.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5BbnYPUnVAcYMbphyHKqKHTjLeWCAg9GbjmW7alv3oPE3USwlefb5ynI14nxQi7_RoAg_PlNn-Elvy74QjrnLgisQZ53jqDIJcddglu3ubX_P-4QUeDhNL1nd7So-6TlA4M-4zC5E9E4Z/s1732/_DSC0011+%25284%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5BbnYPUnVAcYMbphyHKqKHTjLeWCAg9GbjmW7alv3oPE3USwlefb5ynI14nxQi7_RoAg_PlNn-Elvy74QjrnLgisQZ53jqDIJcddglu3ubX_P-4QUeDhNL1nd7So-6TlA4M-4zC5E9E4Z/s320/_DSC0011+%25284%2529.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /> <p></p><p>I received Joann's Gift Cards for Christmas, So I will be using them for new quilt battings and what ever I really need.<br /></p><p>2. I want to make my hubby a quilt from plaids, solids and other masculine fabrics like the one I made for the teenager <a href="https://angelscrapsquilting.blogspot.com/2020/11/the-finished-teenagers-quilt-and-some.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>. He loved that quilt and commented about it often when I was working on it.<br /></p><p>3. I want to make more quilts for our grandkids. If I do them in order, the 2 year old and her 6 year old brother are next. I will see how far I get with those. If I am able to finish those, I will continue with the next ones in line. They all have quilts that I made them, but they need new ones..... at least that's what I think! LOL <br /></p><p>4. I want to make some more Fall and Christmas quilts. I have lots of fabric for those.<br /></p><p>5. I want to finish the doll quilt <a href="https://angelscrapsquilting.blogspot.com/2020/10/slow-sunday-stitching-doll-quilt.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>. I didn't finish this in time for Christmas. :o( <br /></p><p>6. I started a leaders and enders quilt about a year ago. I don't think I shared that on this blog, but I want to continue working on it and hopefully finish it. It would make a great quilt for donation or a grandchild.</p><p>7. I want to make quilts for donation! I have always wanted to do this, but I end up making quilts for family members and the donation quilts don't get done.</p><p> <u><b>These plans include a lot of quilts, but I am dreaming big! </b></u></p><p><u><b> </b></u></p><p><u><b>This post is linked to Finish it or not Friday.</b></u><b> <a href="https://alyciaquilts.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">HERE</a></b><u><b> </b></u><br /></p>Debbie Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01610913789958390802noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9039832942236316133.post-41344940727064490752020-12-28T18:16:00.003-05:002020-12-28T18:26:42.095-05:00Just in time - My Last Quilt of 2020<p></p><p>An end of year quilt finish - with the name on the label being "A Young Man's Quilt".<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDByhEJ_w1VQ-KDLlt_-T4ZftaA3ZJZE298RJZGCD0h4gxVLEBl58zS619rgBgpsE_l7IL3TQc3rsE_vRI0HAqlyLJd900tHkDQgxn_w3dpz9QHpNMxpUB_A91v1Fx40xiR0SCzl7QpCZn/s1732/_DSC0205+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDByhEJ_w1VQ-KDLlt_-T4ZftaA3ZJZE298RJZGCD0h4gxVLEBl58zS619rgBgpsE_l7IL3TQc3rsE_vRI0HAqlyLJd900tHkDQgxn_w3dpz9QHpNMxpUB_A91v1Fx40xiR0SCzl7QpCZn/w400-h266/_DSC0205+%25282%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p>This quilt is for the Teenager's younger brother who is 7 1/2. I have to wait until the weekend and you never know what the weather is going to be like. Yesterday was the perfect day to go outside! There was hardly any wind and warm temperatures.</p><p>So I spent some time doing something I enjoy .....taking pictures of quilts.</p><p>First of all here is the finished Teenager's Quilt: <br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidPzgoBz7Naux8PLH3i4ycNNLAjoTRyEMAtZt2k8zIL91tr3VpuT1Sql1HP-raHwJHavlMgNZbBQxsgP7OGIyO871jlcD6nJTH1Wde8LGQdOQSJ7oMM3M0AVqoF9CDo1s3f1R41HZc47oF/s1681/_DSC0355+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1189" data-original-width="1681" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidPzgoBz7Naux8PLH3i4ycNNLAjoTRyEMAtZt2k8zIL91tr3VpuT1Sql1HP-raHwJHavlMgNZbBQxsgP7OGIyO871jlcD6nJTH1Wde8LGQdOQSJ7oMM3M0AVqoF9CDo1s3f1R41HZc47oF/w400-h283/_DSC0355+%25282%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio4lg49aHR-KY8H9oggI7hfLdPdgz7-z5mRdrnQfmDHISde8sRBKxMANvdG2V4Tq62syoM2BPx44BpIgXPcwr9ObCzvvJIGI18Y0IQ4hqAkv_S9kLHMGGn8WJgQjW77kBKtXUbVbb9tSoK/s1732/_DSC0357.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio4lg49aHR-KY8H9oggI7hfLdPdgz7-z5mRdrnQfmDHISde8sRBKxMANvdG2V4Tq62syoM2BPx44BpIgXPcwr9ObCzvvJIGI18Y0IQ4hqAkv_S9kLHMGGn8WJgQjW77kBKtXUbVbb9tSoK/w400-h266/_DSC0357.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6zQZg80DlFW8zJglHNZC4NGwgVkyQRZ57VxXuvJUF0yb1Ktu6aSnY0JJKPOYyMPHFzfSPhdHNNPDDKJ6YImWTUYaj_d0-w2ZqzhFeFBX6owggv8YOHdxoPhiJ3saU49qa1JZTYSxigjAN/s1732/_DSC0360+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6zQZg80DlFW8zJglHNZC4NGwgVkyQRZ57VxXuvJUF0yb1Ktu6aSnY0JJKPOYyMPHFzfSPhdHNNPDDKJ6YImWTUYaj_d0-w2ZqzhFeFBX6owggv8YOHdxoPhiJ3saU49qa1JZTYSxigjAN/w400-h266/_DSC0360+%25282%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdoVmq4eBK3gIfHLXYkapQsrnPdPz-p4Yfq8dNP05J42tiRym20sn_JQppJ4-uU88EogxlzzPSOiW1QnfZB1Tz80Kw2To40FjjRiH6Y9XGHMPY9LwbsJbUjJNBw9kGfN6iiL-e5n13xMJO/s1732/_DSC0319+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1732" data-original-width="1154" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdoVmq4eBK3gIfHLXYkapQsrnPdPz-p4Yfq8dNP05J42tiRym20sn_JQppJ4-uU88EogxlzzPSOiW1QnfZB1Tz80Kw2To40FjjRiH6Y9XGHMPY9LwbsJbUjJNBw9kGfN6iiL-e5n13xMJO/w426-h640/_DSC0319+%25282%2529.JPG" width="426" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSrhvZDIjrFNnFSiORmTE6j_7SuqICYfsz_LUidRkkKSyeo3ejd0HfVEMgGt5XBKzzJBxj8Lsqq0AqN8fwF7HsfyXhTaKx0mk0K5l7XxXEx8s0Pvq4sXrDYof8ByFUzFM6uNuQBVIeqTxa/s1732/_DSC0342+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSrhvZDIjrFNnFSiORmTE6j_7SuqICYfsz_LUidRkkKSyeo3ejd0HfVEMgGt5XBKzzJBxj8Lsqq0AqN8fwF7HsfyXhTaKx0mk0K5l7XxXEx8s0Pvq4sXrDYof8ByFUzFM6uNuQBVIeqTxa/w400-h266/_DSC0342+%25282%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEtzBNFE1ncWPi3uAUXLvYoXTSQeaoXm1oLJURuPYl6SH2C4yxRnjTWPh3NddCrqhLsqahidFnekVtNz4lL9wfJKYowE3yF601n7-QSHOx2KVKZRgZsSjsC3eNGXW9pSp5YYJbWQ1yOuY3/s1732/_DSC0349.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1154" data-original-width="1732" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEtzBNFE1ncWPi3uAUXLvYoXTSQeaoXm1oLJURuPYl6SH2C4yxRnjTWPh3NddCrqhLsqahidFnekVtNz4lL9wfJKYowE3yF601n7-QSHOx2KVKZRgZsSjsC3eNGXW9pSp5YYJbWQ1yOuY3/w400-h266/_DSC0349.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p>My final thoughts on this quilt: I really did not like it when I first started making the blocks. I'm planning to make more in different colors.</p><p>I posted the directions for this quilt in my previous post which can be found <a href="https://angelscrapsquilting.blogspot.com/2020/10/teenagers-strip-quilt.html">HERE</a>. </p><p>The size of the finished quilt is 66 X 82.<br /></p><p>************* FALL QUILT PHOTO SHOOT************ <br /></p><p>While I was outside in the beautiful weather, I decided to try taking some fall theme pictures with quilts. I realized that I don't have that many fall colored quilts and in 2021, I plan to remedy that situation! <br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghPF1xaF9z7ZaWM4fc9xJu6YtKfjdy1YiGRlAKIvPygRTMN01fZIkhdCyxGUOy9p_g90AcRXMbBv-AOLjPNhWhKVUPCTK_Wd84A7VWcfMUfvNpBjTS6l3T5v805f8KFOXh97e1v8jdfPaU/s1732/_DSC0229.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; I've enjoyed making it and even though I have named it "The Teenager's Quilt", my hubby likes it so much, He may be getting one too. ..... And also the Teenager's younger brother who is 7.</p><p>These pictures were taken yesterday and earlier today. I have now finished pin basting it and have set up my machine quilting area for quilting. This means that I filled some bobbins and placed the machine that already has the free motion quilting foot on it, onto the table where I sew and plugged everything in. I also set up a card table to my left and a TV tray to my right. The card table holds the weight of the quilt as I machine quilt, and the TV tray holds scissors, the container for the pins that I remove as I quilt, bobbins, and what ever else gets thrown on there. I also dusted the area behind and to the left of my machine and cleaned some of the lint from inside my machine. I vacuumed the floor so that if the quilt drags on the floor, it will stay clean. Now I am all ready for quilting before and after work this week. </p><p>I would love to finish quilting it by the weekend, but we will see! Next weekend I could be sewing on the binding, if all goes well.<span></span><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnHw_H8n502OYGWNLSFZsf68XnT4gxMuXimLvP-tnGrWqW-1M6i9HLGoW8UElKQlbUqZRkEM3q0Q6JgUNZgfo2XsQUdAlyHjmzfy6IgXaMmQKmLYea9Q2x2rSrdszCbK4-uQtAv3Pq6oBV/s2048/_DSC0029+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1365" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnHw_H8n502OYGWNLSFZsf68XnT4gxMuXimLvP-tnGrWqW-1M6i9HLGoW8UElKQlbUqZRkEM3q0Q6JgUNZgfo2XsQUdAlyHjmzfy6IgXaMmQKmLYea9Q2x2rSrdszCbK4-uQtAv3Pq6oBV/w426-h640/_DSC0029+%25282%2529.JPG" width="426" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmTBBDrtpIe0hvTBDn_bB9WshbIyO-ovZfrFI7sBVXkPdNwObq_3bUKjDPANfNp_AIIzYxlLePHA6cAquW44W_SKmwh8lhkFmun2k1uzGw5yP3c7UO5RuJUcqJzgoZRZbJEPALK-1BocB0/s2048/_DSC0030+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmTBBDrtpIe0hvTBDn_bB9WshbIyO-ovZfrFI7sBVXkPdNwObq_3bUKjDPANfNp_AIIzYxlLePHA6cAquW44W_SKmwh8lhkFmun2k1uzGw5yP3c7UO5RuJUcqJzgoZRZbJEPALK-1BocB0/w400-h266/_DSC0030+%25282%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p> Have a great week!</p><p>This post is linked to <a href="https://lovelaughquilt.blogspot.com/2020/10/monday-making_25.html" target="_blank">Monday Making HERE</a>.<br /></p>Debbie Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01610913789958390802noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9039832942236316133.post-61853463387911779632020-10-25T13:03:00.007-04:002020-10-26T06:09:07.717-04:00Slow Sunday Stitching - Doll Quilt<p>Happy Slow Stitching Sunday!</p><p>Here is a doll quilt I am making as a Christmas Gift for my 4 year old granddaughter. I think this quilt, a doll size pillow and a doll would make a sweet gift. </p><p>I've been hankering for a hand project to work on at night while watching TV with my hubby. I could quilt this on my machine in just a few minutes, but I think that hand quilting stitches will give it an old fashioned quilt feel. <br /></p><p> Taped down in preparation of pin basting.<br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJT6XOD-qv761KSQdM8rbvqXhAsZUK68ReHAmGc5TjJfu6jO7RYZdYScTb6WZI3Pl_JAigsEd9MyH3XqXKtaxSblMNVU39TXKdIy5Y7il788g3UWXE0S3Y3kUoQdIOQS9c9GJ_EWxFIhzQ/s2048/_DSC0042+%25283%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1247" data-original-width="2048" height="244" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJT6XOD-qv761KSQdM8rbvqXhAsZUK68ReHAmGc5TjJfu6jO7RYZdYScTb6WZI3Pl_JAigsEd9MyH3XqXKtaxSblMNVU39TXKdIy5Y7il788g3UWXE0S3Y3kUoQdIOQS9c9GJ_EWxFIhzQ/w400-h244/_DSC0042+%25283%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p></p><p>Pinned.<br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyar3SIBGjmCh2nCct9C-Cn2_f-7H2evdJGd5tm1ANaUB6Tlf09JyMbmQbaKvZQBQL8QHFLS_r7obupS570xdpBMiM45kPytlEd2GyQN5fJpklCd_tlNxYVsPU4qaFu7rnJ30Zg81-nAj7/s2048/_DSC0047+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1851" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyar3SIBGjmCh2nCct9C-Cn2_f-7H2evdJGd5tm1ANaUB6Tlf09JyMbmQbaKvZQBQL8QHFLS_r7obupS570xdpBMiM45kPytlEd2GyQN5fJpklCd_tlNxYVsPU4qaFu7rnJ30Zg81-nAj7/w361-h400/_DSC0047+%25282%2529.JPG" width="361" /></a></div><p></p><p>Testing the marking pin.</p><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUIs-FBV6QHVByavufrEbJ5kZin0reaULhwaawfcx9E39lLCgcUabX7B9EuR0YpwO7Z1DHJNAaFMo1Esp21y9rr4Msg4JkECKcCLcvTiFi8P8NKA9gIPEg6tTqba1bsE2ioDNE_kVU7ibH/s2048/_DSC0049.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUIs-FBV6QHVByavufrEbJ5kZin0reaULhwaawfcx9E39lLCgcUabX7B9EuR0YpwO7Z1DHJNAaFMo1Esp21y9rr4Msg4JkECKcCLcvTiFi8P8NKA9gIPEg6tTqba1bsE2ioDNE_kVU7ibH/w400-h266/_DSC0049.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p>Passed the test!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoAWaI6nrUdpteiz1Sp3eJXL5tgZsv7_JaHYZ7p5mpN9XRb6_8K0bB-Gcd6oImwZ3yRtqsJHyMsDrGZULxMwMEdWumVGPQH8Ij7P_ERx9f0JLEtgxNuHt89rT8clO1JgXWHVYigi9cV9Bm/s2048/_DSC0050+%25281%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoAWaI6nrUdpteiz1Sp3eJXL5tgZsv7_JaHYZ7p5mpN9XRb6_8K0bB-Gcd6oImwZ3yRtqsJHyMsDrGZULxMwMEdWumVGPQH8Ij7P_ERx9f0JLEtgxNuHt89rT8clO1JgXWHVYigi9cV9Bm/w400-h266/_DSC0050+%25281%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>

Its one we didn't watch when it was being originally shown. Its pretty good, but a little silly at times, and not too violent, etc. I already looked ahead on the internet to see what is going to happen. Yay, Zoe and Wade end up together in the end! Being a native southern girl, to me, the actor who played Wade, did a good job.<br /></p><p> I would recommend "Call the Midwife", if you don't mind seeing a baby born on every episode. Loved that one.</p><p>We "tried" to watch "Outlander". I could NOT hang in there with it. The story was really good, but so hard to watch all the violence and nudity. We gave up on it after a few episodes. The older I get, the less I can take in the way of violence. But, that's just me! The last quilt I made him was when he was in kindergarten!</p><p>My inspiration was this vintage quilt which appears to use every kind of fabric you can think of:</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0XmyxTY5I_9tZQ9NCqm1vsg-GdV4MCZ80EluTHV13aCEd_SlGCMNYMRqG1Qa1bx01e19AmTbNK8O0V7ZeuvrBtkCMwbQwai0DFJRPAHlFk7x0mthZmsReauf1IrOWTgUiCZl-JyVpkhRR/s2048/_DSC0153.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1365" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0XmyxTY5I_9tZQ9NCqm1vsg-GdV4MCZ80EluTHV13aCEd_SlGCMNYMRqG1Qa1bx01e19AmTbNK8O0V7ZeuvrBtkCMwbQwai0DFJRPAHlFk7x0mthZmsReauf1IrOWTgUiCZl-JyVpkhRR/s320/_DSC0153.JPG" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>My plan is to use lots of plaids, solids and more for the blocks and a medium gray for the borders. The blocks will be strips sewn diagonally to each other. I didn't want to sew the strips onto paper and then have to remove all the paper. I also didn't want to go to the trouble and expense to sew the strips onto fabric foundation squares. I also didn't really want the extra weight of the foundation fabric.</p><p>So, I came up with this plan to simply sew the strips together and then cut them into squares.</p><p>These blocks end up being 13 inches square. Here are the measurements of the strips needed for each square:</p><p>Three 2 1/2 inch wide by 19 inch long strips.</p><p>Two 2 1/2 inch wide by 14 inch long strips.</p><p>Two 2 1/2 inch wide by 10 inch long strips.</p><p>Two 3 1/2 inch by 6 inch long strips.</p><p> I sewed the strips together like seen in this first picture. The 3 longest strips are in the middle and then the other strips are sewn on each side of the center strips. I just eyeballed them to center the smaller strips on the longer strip it was being sewn to. <br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir1jhmxjpFJdhOsXZUlRknUTBN-WTHuyFX0ndx6zIZdSanDhfaNb3CpEHDZ6PxlR_509wmc6iqYHNx_W3AjbXfUBqlUSr14tUVjihqx9Y7XQlrJyX5I81p8d4lQUybNkeXvTHzd_9jowSs/s2048/_DSC0053+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEir1jhmxjpFJdhOsXZUlRknUTBN-WTHuyFX0ndx6zIZdSanDhfaNb3CpEHDZ6PxlR_509wmc6iqYHNx_W3AjbXfUBqlUSr14tUVjihqx9Y7XQlrJyX5I81p8d4lQUybNkeXvTHzd_9jowSs/w400-h266/_DSC0053+%25282%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p>After pressing the seams all to one side, I placed a 13 inch square that I had already finished on top of the strip set like this. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs3bA3Cga0qbLlJjFRnH6GOBEd3qilKx07WHSo-mHOk0qguoSiTzvIGBozuqM5n9w5R_qwFnVowKf0QX3S7D0nZthGa16ZwxdP0a_yTLeCrEtajMArM7llmHnVGiI72mRh-XpbvjUD9_sD/s2048/_DSC0055+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1361" data-original-width="2048" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhs3bA3Cga0qbLlJjFRnH6GOBEd3qilKx07WHSo-mHOk0qguoSiTzvIGBozuqM5n9w5R_qwFnVowKf0QX3S7D0nZthGa16ZwxdP0a_yTLeCrEtajMArM7llmHnVGiI72mRh-XpbvjUD9_sD/w400-h266/_DSC0055+%25282%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p>Then using a rotary cutter and ruler, I trimmed off the excess like this.</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi0UA7g0bEZDm97XAm_iNvM2_KcSHcE882Z21l5dp7JmMlszo-5Qc-289MjyYcewr8LdfNqrqU0_7Ye0JUCXq4Q0jzgcp8Lvv474SN_6pOtRuAfAj2YvjEkgLeBMv8YXKooowST_JvN5mN/s2048/_DSC0057+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgi0UA7g0bEZDm97XAm_iNvM2_KcSHcE882Z21l5dp7JmMlszo-5Qc-289MjyYcewr8LdfNqrqU0_7Ye0JUCXq4Q0jzgcp8Lvv474SN_6pOtRuAfAj2YvjEkgLeBMv8YXKooowST_JvN5mN/w400-h266/_DSC0057+%25282%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0YVh8-E-J1_hAKJZe6NDHysga7XYgy4mvHzylXBKYwuYDv5Q6h2pwAy1wiDpiW6M6jIAYQp5p-3Cs0kdjE1yqsdmRVgO6t64uqBq7UXRR0hFm_irnd_o-wZ562p_aYoydhyYl5BF_LCyr/s2048/_DSC0059.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0YVh8-E-J1_hAKJZe6NDHysga7XYgy4mvHzylXBKYwuYDv5Q6h2pwAy1wiDpiW6M6jIAYQp5p-3Cs0kdjE1yqsdmRVgO6t64uqBq7UXRR0hFm_irnd_o-wZ562p_aYoydhyYl5BF_LCyr/w400-h266/_DSC0059.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p></p><p></p><p>The finished block:</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjADK_301_nAuDq4b89WQMQxSSV2JYDnp261z7dTftwlW-MGSEVxxxq4UoyQVDtvaerxrXvWZR2U8HuKN6FlNA_fABkbBDJOws49lObFOGhm2b-DmTxY2e8X0pSWZxhFkxKaR6yXK6RK0H/s2048/_DSC0060+%25282%2529.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1365" data-original-width="2048" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjADK_301_nAuDq4b89WQMQxSSV2JYDnp261z7dTftwlW-MGSEVxxxq4UoyQVDtvaerxrXvWZR2U8HuKN6FlNA_fABkbBDJOws49lObFOGhm2b-DmTxY2e8X0pSWZxhFkxKaR6yXK6RK0H/w400-h266/_DSC0060+%25282%2529.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />The outer edges of the blocks are STRETCHY! But, if I had used paper foundations and then ripped off the paper, the outcome would have been the same. Borders will be sewn in between all the blocks, which will stabilize the edges. I will carefully sew the stretchy sides to the non stretchy borders, and I think it will work out well.<p></p><p>For the twin size I am shooting for, including the borders, I will need 20 of these blocks. Only 2 more to go! I just might make a matching one for this new teenager's younger brother. Now that I have gotten into the swing of things, these blocks have been going together quickly.</p>Debbie Jhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01610913789958390802noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9039832942236316133.post-17606391772085409072020-06-21T17:46:00.000-04:002020-06-21T17:57:59.404-04:00The Rainbow Double Irish Chain QuiltI'm definitely a slow quilter! So what's next?<br />
<br />
I've been doing some repairs on a couple of really old quilts for a relative and I'll be showing more about them in a future post.<br />
<br />
But if you know me, you know I love scrappy quilts, or quilts made from clothes. This is one of the quilts I am doing some work on and it has inspired me to make a similar quilt for my almost 13 year old grandson. I envision the quilt with lots of plaids, stripes and light weight denim.<br />
<br />
I think it would be an easy quilt to make, which always a bonus for the slow quilters like me!<br />
<br />

<br />
I love this, but it should also say, "Check Twice, Sew Once". This morning I sewed two rows of the quilt top shown at the bottom of this post completely backwards! I'll be un-sewing that tonight!<br />

<br />
This is a daily calendar and on each day of the year there's a different quilt block or project. Love this too! I get too many ideas that I don't have time to do though!<br />

I'm making progress on the Rainbow Double Irish Chain quilt that I have been working on for quite a while. I only need to sew the rows together and the top will be finished. <br />
