Quilting and Life

In life and in quilting, if something doesn't seem quite right.... it probably isn't! Its a good idea to frequently look at the back of the quilt when free motion machine quilting. Its so much easier to fix if you catch it early.

I like to put some Bible verses on the wall above the machine to read in between quilting, or while a new bobbin is winding. This one is written down on a big index card. I hand wrote it in 2011 and had tucked it into one of my Bibles. I thought it would be a good way to sneak in a little Bible study or just for a little motivation and comfort.

Proverbs 31
This is just one small way to make my sewing area a pleasant place to be.

I've had that happen with my FMQ too...oh the dreaded ripping out. Love your idea for Bible verses and the one you have up is the passage I love most. It's the kind of wife I've strived to be for 30 years.

Good idea for a quick Bible study. Have you tried bobbin washers, they help the "bird nest" problem when machine quilting. You can find them on line.

I read and reread Proverbs 31 a lot. I'll never be that woman, but it's nice to remind myself of what my goals are. Don't you just hate it when the bobbin goes crazy...out of the blue? Mine was doing that the other day and it ended up being something had slipped on the spool end, causing the machine not to be threaded correctly. I love when it's an easy fix!!!

I love your idea about putting up bible verses. My life verse is Proverbs 5 and seeing it as I am quilting will remind me to Trust in the Lord with all my heart.
I agree with Betty Lou, bobbin washers are great!
